We found out at the beginning of the month that Matt was able to pass the PEPT (Philippine Educational Placement Test) for his level. It took him two tries but he managed to pass all five subjects (English, Filipino, Science, Math, Araling Panglipunan) from Grade 3 to Grade 6 and is now set to enroll in Grade 7.
Matt and I still can't believe it. We used the Grade 3 reviewer from National Bookstore (pink) and just focused on Araling Panglipunan for the second time he took the test.
At the first try, he was able to pass Grade 3. But he had a failing grade in Araling Panglipunan for Grade 4.
For his first try, he had summer classes in Filipino and Math at his school so we focused on reviewing in Science at home.
We can only be grateful that he has such a wonderful school (Blended Learning Center) and such patient teachers.
Part of the reason we can't believe he passed is that Matt is still not fluent in Filipino. Although he has proven that he understands a lot more than he lets on.
Maybe it's the Mom in me that can't let go and can't believe that Matt will be in Grade 7, which is technically, high school already.
